Pleasure As A Resource

Drop into sturdiness, self-trust, and joy in just 4 weeks.

Join me LIVE each week as we learn how pleasure can become your most effective and affirming portal into a more spontaneous, delightful and resilient way of living.

(Class replays will be available 24-48hours after we go live.)

I find it hard to shift from hyper focus to rest.

I feel stuck in a state of chronic stress.

I feel EXHAUSTED all the time (like I’m on Autopilot).

I notice I’m avoiding people and social invitations.

I’m in a rut - creatively.

It’s hard to FEEL anything - other than grief at the state of the world.

But how can we possibly be talking about pleasure at a time like this?

7 years ago I noticed I was pushing my way through every single day.

I was building HUGE outdoor events (which would takes us weeks) and then stripping them away in days and wondering - what actually was the point?

I had lost connection to the awe, the delight, the tribal hum of large scale music gigs.

Fast forward a few years, same job PLUS two kids and I was well truly done. Exhausted. The strategies of hyper-vigilance, hyper-independence, people pleasing and over-giving physically couldn't be sustained.

One night I found myself sobbing in my driveway. I turned to my partner and I said to him…

“there has got to be another way to do this.”

That was just the beginning.

It took me 2 years to discover what I’d left behind. What I’d dismissed as a nice to have, something that I’d fit in later…

  • When I’d made the money

  • When I’d worked hard enough

  • When the kids were more settled and sleeping ‘properly’

  • When I was healthier, happier and had more TIME

  • When I had the energy

Through a series of personal experiments (that included drawing with my kids, painting, writing, bathing, dream work, active imagination, self guided study and walking in the bush.)

I discovered that (to my surprise) the most ESSENTIAL ingredient in order for me and my little family to THRIVE was PLEASURE.

Of course - It’s not as SIMPLE as ‘just take more baths’.

it’s not just a matter of having more ‘fun’ hobbies, weekends away and joining a breathwork group.

Let’s talk about the the complexity of pleasure.

Pleasure is not equally accessible to everyone.

Safety is fundamental, and when people live with war, displacement, poverty, or domestic and sexual violence, pleasure might be unavailable or even unsafe.

There are systems — patriarchal, colonial, capitalist, and oppressive — that have worked hard to condition us to experience pleasure as untrustworthy, indulgent, non-productive and even dangerous.

This is not an individual failing.

And it’s not for us to fix ALONE.

We do it, together, by becoming advocates for pleasure as a vital force for resilience and collective power.

Let’s not fear trauma, grief or rage. Let’s create capacity to hear, see and experience it while (at the same time) providing for moments of connection, creativity, and pleasure to emerge.

That’s what we are doing together over these 4 weeks.

When we reconnect to our own experience of pleasure - we have everything we need to weave it back into our communities, our work places, our schools and our homes.

“One of the ways to survive and even find some possibility of thriving in a world falling apart is to become more clear and more committed to that which we love, to what we love, to who we love, and to how we love.”

~ Michael Meade, Pleasure As A Revolutionary Act

GUEST TEACHER CLASSES

  • Week One - Breathe

Join Charlie & Ash for a powerful breathwork experience designed to expand your emotional and energetic capacity. In this immersive session, you’ll explore how your body and nervous system communicate with your mind - learning how breath can regulate, restore, and re-ignite your natural vitality. Expect to drop out of your busy mind, reconnect with your body, and experience a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and inner power.

  • Week Two - Dream

In this session, Tayria invites you into the “dreaming dimension” where nightly visions are not random, but rich with guidance and soul-messages. You’ll “learn the language of your dreams”, as she phrases it, exploring how the instincts, archetypes and the deeper psyche speak through images and symbols. Drawing on her work in depth-psychology and indigenous sensibilities, you’ll open to the idea that "dreams are the guiding words of the soul”, in the words of C.G. Jung, and that by listening you participate in “the Great Conversation going on among all living things.”

  • Week Three - Imagine

Kim Marie takes us into the archetypal world of Allerleirauh (All Kinds of Furs) to “remember who we are, reconnect to what matters, and re-envision what’s possible.” Through this ancient story, we’ll explore how myth and fairy tale mirror our own journeys of transformation - revealing the patterns that shape us and the instincts that guide us home. In a world that seems to literalise everything it’s story that can be both our map and medicine.

  • Week Four - Rest

Fiona Maher invites us to soften into the organic intelligence of our bodies. To slow down, listen deeply, and remember the natural cadence of our creative cycles. Through the lens of embodiment and regenerative leadership, she guides us to notice the deeper patterns that shape how we show up in our business and working life. Together, we’ll explore rest as a radical act of rebellion. A homecoming to clarity, nourishment, and a regulated nervous system. This is an invitation to "attune to your own rhythm", reclaim your natural design and move beyoned "business as usual".

Class format

Each class follows the same gentle arc so you always know what to expect.

Then I’ll share some teaching and a guided practice so you can experience the principles in real time.

 FAQs

  • Nope. This 4-week program stands on its own. If you did join the free class, you’ll recognise some of the flow — but here we go deeper, week by week.

  • All sessions are recorded. You’ll get the replays within 24 hours, and you can watch (or re-watch) anytime that works for you.

  • Not at all. This is a foundations course, designed to be simple, accessible, and practical. You’ll be guided step by step — I try to keep the jargon to a minimum, no pressure.

  • No. BodyDreaming takes a therapeutic and trauma informed approach. It is not a replacement for therapy. The practices are body-based and self-paced. You’ll learn how to meet yourself gently.

  • Each live class is approx 60 - 75 minutes. Outside of class, you might want to experiment with the practices in daily life — but there’s no homework load. Think integration, not assignments.

  • Life happens. That’s why you’ll have access to the replays. Each week builds on the last, but you can catch up in your own time and still get the full benefit.

“The work is gradual and respectful. It’s about restoring homeostasis — helping your system re-learn its own rhythmic coherence.”

~ Marian Dunlea, BodyDreaming

About the lineage of the work I do

Pleasure As A Resource draws from a number of influences including the work of Kimberly Ann Johnson, Bill Plotkin, Marion woodman and Sil Read. Vive is currently training in BodyDreaming®, a therapeutic approach developed by Marian Dunlea, whose book BodyDreaming in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma received multiple international awards. BodyDreaming weaves together the wisdom of Jungian psychology, neuroscience, trauma research, and somatic practices. It offers a way to work directly with the nervous system through imagination, sensation, and the body’s own intelligence.

Marian Dunlea’s work emerges from the legacy of Marion Woodman — Jungian analyst, author, and pioneer in the field of feminine psychology. Alongside colleagues Ann Skinner and Mary Hamilton, Woodman created BodySoul Rhythms®, a practice combining Jungian depth psychology, movement, voice, and creative expression. BodySoul Rhythms became a global movement, inviting people — especially women — into deeper relationship with psyche, soma, and soul.

BodyDreaming carries this lineage forward. Where BodySoul Rhythms emphasised body, psyche, and creativity, BodyDreaming brings in the crucial insights of contemporary neuroscience and trauma research. Together, they create a therapeutic map that is both imaginative and grounded: a way of working that helps us expand capacity, orient to pleasure as a resource, and integrate body, mind, and spirit.

It’s this lineage — Jungian depth psychology, BodySoul Rhythms, and BodyDreaming — that underpins everything we’ll explore in this program.
